Five facts about Firework Law - you probably didn't know.
I. It is against the law to throw or set off Fireworks in any highway, public street, thoroughfare or public place (The Police have the power to enforce this) Fines up to £5000 or on the spot fines of £80 can be issued. 2. It is against the law to carry Fireworks in a public place if you are under 18. 3. Fireworks must not be sold to anyone under 18. 4. It is an offence to tamper with or modify Fireworks. 5.It is an offence to let Fireworks off during night hours (11pm to 7am) except Bonfire Night (12pm) Diwali, New Year and Chinese New Year (1am)

The Firework Safety Code DO Keep fireworks in a closed box Only buy fireworks marked BS7114 Follow the instructions on each firework Light at arms length, using a taper Stand well back Always supervise children around fireworks Light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves Keep pets indoors. DONT Drink Alcohol if setting off fireworks Never go near a firework that has been lit.Even if it hasn't gone off, it could still explode. Never put fireworks in your pockets or throw them. Never give sparklers to a child under 5
