"And When Did You Last See Your Father"- Blakes moving account about his Fathers life and death, has been made into a feature film. It will be premiered on Sept 28th at Skiptons Plaza Cinema - 1 week ahead of general release.
Blake Morrison comes from Thorton-in-Craven near Skipton, born in 1950. He was educated Ermystead's Grammar School before going onto Nottingham University and University College, London.
Blake Morrison is probably best known for his memoirs about his parents - And When Did You Last See Your Father and - Things My Mother Never Told Me. He has, however, written many different pieces under many different genres - poetry -Ballad of the Yorkshire Ripper; Dark Glasses; screenplays; print journalism (for The Observer; The Independent and The Guardian) and social commentary ( As If , about the James Bulger case). Blake has worked on an adaptation of the Greek play Antigione and Oedipus with Northern Broadsides in Halifax.His latest release is South of the River chronicleling the reaction of different characters during Labours landslide election victory in 1997.
His non-fiction book - And When Did You Last See Your Father, has been made into a feature film starring Colin Firth, Jim Broadbent, Matthew Beard and Juliet Stephenson. The film is due for release in the Autumn after being shown at the Venice Film Festival in September
He now lives in London with his wife and family.
